Looks like it's on the south canal just west of the south swimming hole...the camp that the trail curves out away from near the canal and back around back to parallel to the canal. Maybe we should start to VOLUNTARILY put-up a "camp sign" with a "camp number" and also put the "camp number" on our vehicles so that if anybody without a "camp number" is caught at that camp it would be obvious that they didn't belong there. Just sayin...I know it aint ever going to happen.

You guys do realize that this thread is from March of 2010?

I would think the way things were progressively getting worse, there should be a smoking pile of metal about now.

Crap like this needs to stop. Doesn't matter when it happened...stuff like this continues to happen. What kind of solutions can we come up with? I ride past a camp and I cannot tell if the people belong there. Maybe a hinged sign, padlocked by the owner either in the "up" position or "down" position that reads "NOBODY SHOULD BE IN THIS CAMP, PLEASE QUESTION ANYBODY IN THIS CAMP AND POST CAMP#XXXX ON SUBURBANESTATES.NET" and the other side could say "Camp #xxxx is occupied". If you or I ride by and see that someone is in a camp we know they aint supposed to be there. If they rip the sign off the camp that would be a red flag too. Input from others is welcome and I know the idea has flaws but it's the best I've come up with so far. And yes, the sign would tell them I'm not there so but no vehicles is a dead give away too, so I don't think it would encourage thieves to strike.

Might I suggest a few game cameras? Where our camp is these are invaluable, as we leave some things down there.

There are many different models from cheap to expensive. 99% of them are all digital so you would be able to check for photos with any device capable of reading an SD card.

These alone won't stop the thieves and vandals but at the very least you have some physical proof that you may be able to take to the authorities. If not the authorities, then maybe a section on the wall of the burger barn for "Suburban Estates Most Wanted". This way we could keep an eye out for these offenders and call the police.

The Club has the Bulletin Board which is located outside the Cook Shack. Lauretta has a key and so does Jimbo at the Shack. If people want to post pictures of "SE Most Wanted", this is a free service, just keep your photos and documents to no larger than 8-1/2" x 11".

You can also post "For Sale/Wanted" ads - we are asking for $1.00 donation per ad for a 30-day post - again no larger than 8-1/2" x 11".

Thanks!

Game cameras are a good tool to document a crime but in my book, I would rather do something to DETER the crime. Photos of a guy burning your campt down versus the guy not touching your camp at all.

Game cams do work but just having 1 or 2 isn't enough. I have over 10 game cams all criss crossing one another and 2 in the open so people will see that cams are there. I get lots of pics of people in my camp.

Most are just seeking cover from the rain or just sitting there having a beer. I have also caught some trying to get into my camper and 1 stealing wood from my firewood pile. Come to find out they were broke down out there and needed some heat for the night.

Don't know how many people call me to tell me that they are on my game cams.

...or you can do the EXTREME like I have, 16 Internet cameras with a DVR that sends pictures and full video to my phone and home computer in real time while it is happening...

I even have some Pan/Tilt/Zoom cameras with automatic face-tracking which I can also move manually using my phone wherever I am in the world...

All battery (via a huge solar array).
